Minji Kang Made Her First Career Ace. Then Birdied Three Holes in a Row.

Minji Kang wasn’t having a bad round. Through 14 holes of her second round at the Meijer LPGA Classic, she was solid, steady, building something. Then she stepped up to the par-3 15th and made it interesting.

What happened next was the part nobody puts in the script. Kang birdied 16. Then 17. Then 18. Three straight to close out a 4-under 68 that had her sitting at 8-under through 36 holes and firmly in the hunt.

She finished the week tied for fifth — not the win, but not bad for an Epson Tour graduate in her second season on tour. The ace also triggered a $20,000 donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through the CME Group Cares Challenge, which is a pretty decent afternoon’s work for one golf shot.

The hole-in-one at a pressure moment is one thing. Running off three birdies immediately after it — that part takes a different kind of nerve. Kang had both.
