Wilson has been making golf equipment since 1914. For most of that time, their golf balls were an afterthought. That changed with the Staff Model lineup — a genuinely serious premium ball that competes with anything from Titleist or Callaway, at a price that makes you wonder why you’ve been paying $55 a dozen.
The 2026 Wilson ball range is tight and focused. Here’s what they make and who should be playing it.

The Full 2026 Wilson Lineup
Staff Model X — $50/dozen
Wilson’s tour-level high-speed ball. Firmer compression than the standard Staff Model — about 10 points higher — but softened from the previous generation, which removed the clicky feel that plagued earlier versions. Four-piece construction: small mid-compression core, rigid inner mantle, high-acid ionomer outer mantle, and an ultra-thin 0.025″ cast urethane cover. V-COR technology across the construction drives maximum ball speed. High performance, $8 cheaper per dozen than a Pro V1.
Best for: Swing speeds 100+ mph, low handicappers who want tour performance with slightly more distance emphasis.
Staff Model — $50/dozen
The softer sibling. Compression around 90, reformulated softer core for 2026, the same ultra-thin cast urethane cover as the X. 362-dimple modified hexahedral pattern. Built for skilled players who want tour-level short game spin and a softer, cushiony feel through the bag. The “feel” option in Wilson’s premium range.
Best for: Swing speeds 90-100 mph, low-to-mid handicappers who prioritise greenside feel and spin.
Both models are available in white and yellow, and with TRK360 — Wilson’s 360-degree alignment aid stamped on the ball — at no extra cost.
Duo Soft+ — ~$20/dozen
The softest golf ball on the market. Full stop. Compression rating of 29 — lower than anything Titleist, Callaway, or TaylorMade makes. If your swing speed is below 70 mph, this ball will compress more fully at impact than any other option and give you more distance as a result. Not a tour ball. Not trying to be. It’s the right tool for a specific player and it does that job better than any competitor.
Best for: Swing speeds under 70 mph, seniors, beginners who want maximum distance from a slow swing.
Why Wilson Deserves More Attention
The Staff Model and Staff Model X are genuinely underrated. They match the construction quality of Titleist and Callaway’s flagship balls and come in $5-8 cheaper per dozen. The V-COR technology is legitimate, the cast urethane cover is the real deal, and independent testing consistently rates them at the top of their category.
The reason most golfers don’t play Wilson Staff balls is simply that they don’t think of Wilson as a premium ball brand. That reputation is out of date. Try a sleeve before you dismiss them.
