Callaway Put a Turtle on the Chrome Tour. It Is Telling You to Slow Down.

Callaway has put wild animals on a golf ball before. This time it picked the one animal golfers should actually copy on the greens: the turtle. The limited-edition Callaway Chrome Tour TRTL is now on sale in the US. Its message is printed right on the ball: slow down and line it up.

What It Is

Underneath the turtle, this is the regular 2026 Callaway Chrome Tour. It’s a four-piece urethane tour ball with Callaway’s new Tour Fast Mantle (about 16% stiffer than the last generation, for more ball speed), the same spin as before, and the Seamless Tour Aero dimple package. Construction and performance are the same as the standard ball. The only difference is the cartoon turtle and the alignment lines printed alongside it.

Price is $59.99 a dozen from Callaway’s website. It’s a limited run, so don’t expect to find it at every big-box store.

Why a Turtle?

It comes from Japan. TRTL started as a sketch by a product designer on Odyssey’s team in Japan and turned into the Odyssey TRTL putter line. When that launched in Japan, GolfWRX reports, it took the top four spots in putter sales. Callaway Japan then put the same turtle on a Chrome Tour, with a limited release there starting in August. The ball has now made it to the US.

The joke works because it’s also good advice. Most three-putts come from rushing: a quick read, a quick setup, and a jabby stroke. A turtle staring up at you from your ball is a pretty effective reminder to take a breath. The alignment lines do the practical work, and if you’re not sold on lines yet, we covered whether drawing a line on your ball actually helps.

Who It’s For

  • Chrome Tour players who want something fun in the bag. You get the same ball you already play, plus a turtle.
  • Odyssey TRTL putter owners. This is the matching set. Your playing partners will notice.
  • Gift shoppers. With the holidays coming, a limited-edition sleeve of a real tour ball beats another novelty ball that flies like a rock.

Who can skip it: anyone who doesn’t already like how the Chrome Tour performs. A turtle can’t fix a ball that doesn’t fit your game. If you’re not sure, our Callaway lineup guide covers which Chrome model fits which golfer.

The Bottom Line

The Callaway Chrome Tour TRTL is a proven tour ball dressed up with a putting reminder you’ll actually see. That makes it a little more useful than most limited editions, which are just regular balls in costume. Slow and steady won the race once. Maybe it’ll win your next two-footer too.
